Breast Cancer Awareness
Breast Cancer Awareness is focused on raising awareness, prevention, early detection, treatment, and support for those affected by the disease.
The month-long initiative aims to educate and empower individuals, communities, and organizations to take proactive steps in promoting health, advocating for regular screenings, understanding risk factors, and supporting research efforts to improve treatments and find a cure for breast cancer.
It also provides a platform to honor those who have fought the battle against breast cancer and highlight the importance of solidarity in the fight against this prevalent and impactful health issue.
1 in 8 women in the United States will be affected by Breast Cancer during their life, with approximately 30% metastasizing (spreading to other areas).
Disproportionately, 1 in 8 black women are more likely to be diagnosed.
During Your Next Annual Health Check-Up...
Because all women are at risk, it is strongly advised to have annual screenings especially if:
-
You are aged 40 and older, or
-
High-risk individuals should consider earlier and more frequent screenings, especially if there is a family history or genetic predispositions.
Consulting with a Healthcare professional will enable personalized advice and screening plans based on individual factors and risk assessment.
